What Our Free Email Checker Verifies

Each free request returns six groups of DNS and domain signals.

Syntax Validation

Checks email format against RFC 5322 standards. Catches typos, missing @, invalid characters.

Domain & DNS Check

Confirms the domain exists and resolves. Detects NXDOMAIN (non-existent domains).

MX Record Lookup

Verifies mail exchange records exist and identifies the email provider (Gmail, Microsoft 365, etc.).

SPF Verification

Checks for Sender Policy Framework records that authorize mail servers for the domain.

DKIM & DMARC

Verifies DKIM signing and DMARC policy records for email authentication compliance.

Disposable Detection

Checks the domain against Mailthentic's maintained disposable-domain data.

Free Check vs Full Verification

Use an account when you need additional SMTP evidence and job history. Some servers still leave mailbox existence unconfirmed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the free email checker work?

Enter one email address to run DNS-based validation: syntax, domain, MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, provider, and disposable-domain checks. The request does not send an email.

Is the email checker really free?

Yes. You can check up to 5 email addresses per day without signing up. For higher volume and full SMTP mailbox verification, create a free account to get 50 verification credits, no credit card required.

What's the difference between DNS and SMTP verification?

DNS verification checks syntax, the domain, MX routing, authentication records, provider type, and disposable-domain data. SMTP verification can add a recipient response, but some providers still do not reveal whether the individual mailbox exists. Learn how classification differs in the free provider domain guide.

Do you store the email addresses I check?

The public checker stores the submitted address, result status, confidence score, IP address, user agent, and referrer as a product lead. Review the privacy policy before submitting personal data.

Can I verify emails in bulk?

The free checker supports one address at a time. For an existing CSV or XLSX list, use the bulk verifier. Developers can use the API, which requires paid status for API-key calls.

Need More Than 5 Checks?

Create an account to use current signup credits in the dashboard. API keys and CRM integrations require paid status.
