Your contact data stays yours
An email list is personal data, and under GDPR you remain the controller of it. Mailthentic's handling is GDPR aligned: we verify the addresses you send us and give the results back, and we never sell, share or reuse your contact data for any other purpose. It does not get folded into a data product, and it is not resold as a lead list. That matters because you are the one who has to answer to your subscribers, your legal team and your regulator, not your vendor.
Verdicts you can inspect
Every row Mailthentic returns explains itself: the status, the reason for that status, the SMTP response code from the receiving server and a confidence score. That includes the awkward cases. A catch-all domain, sometimes called accept-all, accepts every address whether or not the mailbox exists, and Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 return 250 OK during an SMTP conversation even for addresses that do not exist. No verifier can confirm an individual mailbox in those cases, so we report them as catch-all or unknown rather than inflating them into a valid.
What runs on every address
- Full detection stack: syntax, domain and MX, disposable domains, catch-all detection, role based flagging such as info@ and admin@, plus risky and invalid classification.
- Greylisting retried. A 421, 450 or 451 is a temporary deferral, so we back off and retry instead of discarding a good address.
- No charge for duplicates. We deduplicate before processing, so you pay for unique addresses only.
- API and bulk CSV upload, with your original columns preserved on export.
- CRM round trips with Brevo, HubSpot, Salesforce, Mailchimp and PlusVibe.

Temporary deferrals are retried with a backoff rather than treated as failures. The result set is valid, invalid, catch-all, risky and unknown, each with a reason, an SMTP response code and a confidence score, and the export comes back with your original columns preserved. Your data is verified and returned, not retained for anyone else's benefit.
When another tool may suit you better
If you want a verifier bundled inside a wider marketing or data enrichment platform, and you are comfortable with the data flows that come with it, you have plenty of options. Mailthentic is deliberately narrow: it verifies email addresses, explains each verdict, integrates with the CRM you already use, and then gets out of the way. If you need lead generation or campaign sending, those are separate purchases and we would rather you made them deliberately.

Is Mailthentic cheaper than Clearout?

What do you do with the contact data I upload?
We verify it and return the results to you. Our handling is GDPR aligned, and we never sell, share or reuse your contact data for any other purpose. It is not turned into a data product and it is not resold.
Do my original CSV columns survive verification?
Yes. Exports preserve your original columns and add the verification fields alongside them, so you do not have to remap anything to get the file back into your CRM or sending tool.
Why do you not simply mark catch-all addresses as valid?
Because a catch-all server accepts every address whether the mailbox exists or not, so calling one valid would be a guess dressed as a fact. We label it catch-all, give you a confidence score, and let you set your own risk threshold.
Can I integrate with my CRM?

What happens with temporarily deferred addresses?
Greylisting responses, the 421, 450 and 451 codes, are temporary deferrals rather than rejections. We retry with a backoff so a good address is not discarded, and the response code stays visible on the row.
