EmailListVerify is an established email verification provider with a well known name in the bulk list cleaning space. If you are on this page, you are comparing alternatives, and that is a sensible thing to do before you top up credits or renew a plan.

The uncomfortable truth about bulk list cleaning
Every verifier is bound by the same limit. A catch-all domain, also known as accept-all, is set up to accept mail for every address at that domain. When a server behaves that way, nobody, using any technology, can confirm from the outside whether one specific mailbox behind it exists. Gmail and Google Workspace, and Outlook and Microsoft 365, behave similarly in practice: they return 250 OK during an SMTP conversation even for addresses that do not exist.
A verifier therefore has a choice. It can label those addresses honestly, or it can sweep them into the "valid" bucket and produce a report that looks excellent. Your bounce rate eventually settles the argument.
What Mailthentic does instead
We report catch-all and ambiguous addresses as catch-all or unknown, with a confidence score, so you know precisely which part of your list is proven and which part is a judgement call. That is less flattering and considerably more useful.
Every address comes back with its status, the reason for that status, the raw SMTP response code the receiving server returned, and a confidence score. A result you can audit is a result you can act on.
Behind that sits the full stack: syntax checks, domain and MX validation, disposable domain detection, catch-all detection, role based flagging for addresses like info@ and admin@, and risky and invalid classification. Greylisting is handled the way it is meant to be: a 421, 450 or 451 is a temporary deferral, so we retry with a backoff rather than throwing away a contact that was never actually bad.
Built for real lists
Real lists are messy. They come from forms, events, imports and old exports, and they overlap. Mailthentic deduplicates before processing, so you are charged for unique addresses only. A good fit if

Compare it properly
Pull a sample of a few hundred addresses from a real list and run it through both tools. Then compare the things that actually predict your bounce rate: how many valids are sitting on catch-all domains or on Google and Microsoft infrastructure, whether each result comes with an explanation you can check, and how many duplicate rows you were charged for. Is Mailthentic cheaper than EmailListVerify?
Pricing on both sides changes, so compare them directly: their current pricing is on their own site, ours is on the Mailthentic pricing page. The number that matters is your cost per unique address. Because we deduplicate before processing and only charge for uniques, the effective cost depends on how much repetition your list carries. For a list built from several sources over time, that difference can be significant, and it is worth measuring on your own data.
Do I pay for duplicate addresses in a bulk upload?
No. Mailthentic deduplicates your list before any verification work is done, so you are charged for unique addresses only. You still get every original row back in the export, with your original columns preserved, so nothing is lost from your file.
Why does my report show catch-all results instead of all valids?
Because catch-all domains accept mail for every address, which means no verifier can confirm an individual mailbox behind them. We tell you that honestly, with a confidence score, rather than folding those addresses into the valid count. It is a less impressive looking chart and a far more accurate picture of your actual sending risk.
Can you confirm a Gmail or Microsoft 365 mailbox?
Not by SMTP alone, and neither can anyone else. Gmail, Google Workspace, Outlook and Microsoft 365 return 250 OK even for addresses that do not exist. We run every other check we have, syntax, domain and MX, disposable, role based and risk signals, and report the result with a confidence score and a stated reason instead of claiming a certainty that is not available.
What happens if a server greylists my verification attempt?
A 421, 450 or 451 is a temporary deferral, not a rejection. Mailthentic retries with a backoff, so a greylisting server does not cost you a good contact. The SMTP code we received is shown on the row, so you can see exactly what the receiving server said.
